The Annual Brooke Priory Cross Country

The annual Brooke Priory Cross Country proved to be a real test of the children’s spirit and determination in very testing conditions, as the weather closed in. The hard work, resilience and confidence shown by all our pupils was incredible, on what was a very wet and windy afternoon. The ‘Fun Run’ gave Pre-Prep their first taste of the event, with Form II showing that they are ready for their first competitive cross country next year, with a lots of strong and confident performances.

We were delighted to welcome nine other schools to the event, providing a high standard of competition for all.  Ultimately, the event is about all Brooke Priory children taking part, trying their hardest and showing grit and determination as they represent the school, however it is also nice to celebrate the achievements of our more confident and experienced runners. There were individual medals for Tim and Walter who finished first and third respectively, while Emily, Annabel, Zena and Jemima put in strong performances to finish in the top five. Rudy, Seb G, Seb C, Archie, Annie and Olivia are also very worthy of a mention due to their top ten finishes.

Our value of teamwork was evident throughout the afternoon, as all the children dug in to finish as high as possible in the field. This laid the foundations for the Form IV boys, who won the team trophy, a feat matched by the Form VI girls, who had five runners finish in the top fifteen. There were also impressive performances by the Form III girls, Form IV girls, Form V girls and Form V boys, who all finished second in their team competitions. The event was also a house competition, with Eagles coming out on top.
