Our Approach
Outstanding pastoral care is one of the key reasons many families chose Brooke Priory School. ‘Positive Relationships’ is one of our five aims, it really is at the heart of everything we do. Children are happy (4.44/5 in a pupil voice survey) and safe (4.66/5) at Brooke Priory and have a strong sense of belonging.
Here are some highlights:-
- Our small class sizes allow class teachers to get to know the children incredibly well. They build up trust and mutual respect allowing children to feel confident in their care. The class teacher is the first and most vital layer of the pastoral system.
- Our Learning Support Assistants (LSA), present in all classrooms, develop a slightly more informal relationship with the children. Often this will be a helpful avenue for children to share any concerns.
- Our training in supporting children’s pastoral development includes positive sanctions and ‘girls on board’ relationships management.
- For those children that require it, we have a structured children’s well-being programme. Our programme includes a well-being lead teacher, a fully qualified Emotional Literacy Support Assistant, qualified staff in Lego therapy and drawing and talking. Our well-being café is the last of our successful initiatives which can be combined flexibly for each individual child.
- Our PSHE programme has a focus on friendships and relationships. This scheme is fully adaptable to the needs of each group.
